13 January 2022

Access to Information Programme (AIP) organizes the international conference “Access to information – Achievements and Challenges.”

The event will be held on January 27th, 2022, Thursday, 13-16.30 h. CET online in Zoom. The event is conceived as a forum which will open the space for sharing lessons learned and discussing the challenges to the implementation of the access to information legislation.

The conference will focus on the following topics:

  • Legislative framework: 21 years of the Bulgarian Access to Public Information Act (introduction by AIP experts); Regulation (EC) 1049/2001 on access to EU documents; Council of Europe Convention on Access to Official Documents (CETS No. 205);

  • Tools for monitoring access to public information legislation implementation;

  • Access to information litigation.

Presentation of comparable international experience in the field of access to public information creates a key base for the evaluation of the state of access to information in Bulgaria, as well as the outline of new trends and challenges. We expect the online forum to be attended by representatives of state and municipal administration, judges and lawyers, citizens and NGOs, investigative journalists, journalists from the AIP country-wide network.

Two-way interpretation from and to English is provided. The final agenda is soon to be published.

    You can REGISTER HERE until January 21st, 2022
