8ᵗʰ of November 2019

This autumn for the 4ᵗʰ consecutive year the Access to Information Programme hosted Journalism and Public Relations students from New Bulgarian University for the practical course "Access to Information and Public Communication". Every Friday until the end of December 2019 they will be visiting AIP's office in the framework "Transparency Advice Center" supported by the America for Bulgaria Foundation.

In the first lecture Mrs. Gergana Jouleva, AIP's Executive Director, introduced the students to AIP's 23-year-long history, did an overview of the organization's role as advocate for the freedom of information in Bulgaria and as leading founder of the Freedom of Information Advocates Network (FOIAnet). The lecture touched on topics such as legislation, monitoring, trainings, campaigns, initiatives and network support.

The course includes 7 lectures led by AIP's lawyers Alexander Kashumov, Kiril Terziiski and Stephan Anguelov. In the end the students will present the results from their practical tasks - they will be filing e-requests for access to information to public administration bodies on matters of the students' interest. Traditionally, the certificates of satisfactory completion of the course will be handed to the students in January 2020.
