Access to Information in Bulgaria 2017 Report Launched in English  25.10.2018

The Access to Information Programme launches the English translation of the report on the Access to Information in Bulgaria 2017. It contains recommendations related to the access to information legal framework and its implementation; assessment of the regulations in the access to information area; analysis of the results from the assessment of the proactive transparency of 567 institutions for 2018; analyses of the access to information cases referred to AIP for legal help and consultation during 2017; tendencies in the court practices on access to information cases in 2017 and summaries of cases in which AIP has provided court representation, and 7 annexes. The report was presented at a press conference held in the Bulgarian News Agency on May 22, 2018.

 

16th Right to Know Day Awards Ceremony - 28 September 2018 01.10.2018

FOI activists from Sofia and the country gathered at the Literature club Peroto (The Quill) in the National Palace of Culture – Sofia to celebrate the 16th Right to Know Day Awards Ceremony. Among the guests were partner NGOs, journalists, academia; officials from executive bodies and municipalities. The Deputy Ombudsman of the Republic of Bulgaria addressed the audience for the occasion. The 2018 Right to Know Day Awards Jury selected the winners in six categories out of 35 nominations.

35 nominations for the 2018 Right to Know Day - 28 September 28.09.2018

The AIP will hold the 16th Right to Know Day Awards Ceremony in Bulgaria on September 28 to present the “Golden Key” awards to citizens, journalists, and NGOs, who have actively exercised their right of access to information and public authorities with good transparency practices. Institutions with bad transparency practices receive the “Padlock” anti-award, while absurd practices are recognized with the “Tied Key” anti-award.  35 nominees are competing in the six categories. The media outreach has been escalating.

How is the Access to Public Information Act implemented in Bulgaria? 05.09.2018

The Access to Information Programme launches the visualization of data on the implementation of the Access to Public Information Act updated on the base of the data published in the Government reports “The State of the Administration” 2001 – 2017. The data was analyzed by the AIP Executive Director Gergana Jouleva and the visualization is possible due to the assistance of an expert from the platform Tableau.

Breathe! - Freedom of Information Champions Day 2018 24.07.2018

The Access to Information Programme is launching a fundraising campaign to support the organization and holding of the 16th Right to Know Day Awards Ceremony in Bulgaria on September 28, 2018.

This is the Freedom of Information Champions Day in Bulgaria - the climax in the national campaign for encouraging the exercise of the right to information and pushing for enhanced government transparency and accountability.

Everyone can contribute via the Indiegogo platform or to the AIP bank accounts till September 10, 2018. Every contribution matters!

Access to Information in Bulgaria 2017 Annual Report 01.06.2018

The Access to Information Programme (AIP) presented findings and recommendations on the state of access to information in Bulgaria in 2017 at a press conference held in the Bulgarian News Agency on May 22, 2018. The report is prepared within the project Transparency Advice Center, supported with a grant by the America for Bulgaria Foundation.

End of the Second Students Access to Information and Public Communications Course  19.01.2018

On January 19, 2018, the Access to Information Programme (AIP) presented certificates to the students from professional program “Public Communications and Information Sciences” at the New Bulgarian University for successfully passing the practical course “Access to Information Public Communications.”  The course is held in partnership with the Mass Communications Department of the New Bulgarian University and is within the project Transparency Advice Center supported by the America for Bulgaria Foundation.
