AIP Statement on Questions Put Forth by the Archives State Agency

In its statement as of December 20, 2011, AIP has answered two specific questions put forth by the Archives State Agency:
  1. Is the online publication of the police files of public persons from the period before 1944 a violation of the Personal Data Protection Act?
  2. Is the online publication of names of third persons mentioned in the police files of public persons from the period before 1944, which are part of the National Archives Fund, a a violation of the Personal Data Protection Act?

Legal Statement on Necessary Amendments to the Special Surveillance Means Act

On May 19, 2011, AIP submitted a Legal Statement on necessary amendments to the Special Surveillance Means (SSM) Act to the Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee. AIP recommends amendments that would narrow the scope of the application of special surveillance means; would precise the procedure of issuing warrants for using SSM; would improve the oversight and control of the use of SSM; would protect citizens' right to privacy; and would prevent from overclassification of cases in which evidence was collected through SSM.
