Characteristics and Analyses

Since its establishment, Access to Information Programme has been providing legal assistance and consultation to journalists, nongovernmental organizations and citizens in their search for public information.

Access to Information Programme has been maintaining a constatly expandable database with information cases. Between 1997 to June 2000 (when the Access to Public Information Act was adopted) we have collected and commented on 746 cases.

Since the adoption of the APIA till now, more than 4,000 cases have been referred to AIP for legal help.

In some of the cases, AIP has provided legal help at the initial search for information and the legal team has given advice and/or has prepared a request for access to information. In other cases, we have helped after a refusal for provision of information.
